Selecting the right candidate
Seeking financial advice from the right professional can be an arduous task. Choosing the wrong person to do the job for you can be detrimental to your whole Wealth Planning Exercise.

Choosing the right financial professional to plan and execute your wealth plans is the most important task you need to do. So the first thing you need to access is,
1. Do you want to leave the entire plan to a professional or,
2. Do you want to leave just part of the plan to a professional and another part to yourself.

There is a difference between the two.
1. If you choose the first choice by leaving the entire plan to a professional means that you either have little or no control over your assets. In this instance, you are either a very busy professional and do not have the spare time to bother about these details in financial and wealth planning. Or you could be a person who is totally ignorant and do not want to be bored by the technicalities and its process.

There is no one exact way to determine which type of people belong to any particular group but if you choose to have your plans totally executed by trusted professionals you need to be very careful as to who you think can do a good job for you.

2. For the second type of person, you need to have control. You would only entrust some of your assets to professionals and you trust yourself more than any professionals. you feel that you would be a better manager than any professionals. There is no right or wrong in this instance but it is just your way of doing things.

The selection process:
Now that you know which of the two kinds of person you belong to, you need to have a selection criteria. It is like an interview process. Remember, you are going to engage someone to do the job for you for quite a long time. Very often in any Wealth Exercise, it is not immediately you will get to see results of wealth growth. Sometimes it may take months and in some instance it takes years. Therefore your selection process must be as stringent as possible.
