Anil Ambani (born June 4, 1959) is an Indian businessman. As of March 2007, he has a net-worth of US$ 18.2 billion, making him the 18th richest person in the world. His was the world's fastest-growing multi-billion-dollar fortune in percentage terms as his wealth tripled in 1 year.

Anil Ambani, is up $23.8 billion in the past year, and is closing gap with estranged brother, Mukesh, who ranks one spot ahead of him in the world at number five. The sons inherited their fortune from their late father, renowned industrialist Dhirubhai Ambani. But they couldn't get along and in 2005 their mother brokered a peace settlement breaking up the family's assets. A marathon runner, his biggest asset is his 65% stake in telecom venture Reliance Communications. He recently raised $3 billion from the highly anticipated initial offering of his Reliance Power, the biggest in India's history. Despite the hype, the stock tumbled 17% immediately after its February listing. In a bid to appease investors, company's board recently approved the issue of bonus shares. Still feuding with brother Mukesh: battling him in court over a gas-supply agreement.


Anil Ambani started The Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group or ADAG in 2005, after the Business Empire got split between the Ambani Brothers.

The market capitalization of ADAG is around $ 75 billion. Anil Ambani’s business interests include financial services, communications, entertainment, energy, power, and health care.

Anil Ambani’s Reliance communications is one of the largest telecommunications company in India. Anil Ambani has around 66% stake in Reliance communications.

Reliance communications was considering a merger deal with South African Telecom Company MTN. The deal however was called off. The deal could have created $70 billion Telecom Company.

We can recall that Anil Ambani’s Company Reliance power had an IPO in Jan 2008.The IPO was over subscribed 9 times and was the largest in India. The IPO raised $ 3 billion.

Anil Ambani’s Reliance Big Entertainment or RBE has signed deals with leading production houses in Hollywood. The value of the movies will be worth $1 billion.

Reliance Big Entertainment or RBE entered into a deal with Amitabh Bachchan and family. The worth of the deal was Rs 1500 crore.

Reliance Big Entertainment or RBE is in talks with Steven Spielberg for a possible Joint venture deal where Reliance Big Entertainment or RBE will invest $600 million in Spielberg’s DreamWorks.
